Police and CRPF desecrate Masjids, thrash people: LocalsMir TariqUpdated at 7:05 pmBandipora, Aug 25: Three persons were killed Monday in Bandipora and around 60 injured in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.Locals also alleged Police and CRPF personnel of desecrating Masjids and beating women, children and aged.About 60 persons were injured when Police and CRPF fired upon various processions in Hajin Bandipora who tried to break curfew, eyewitnesses said.
Among the injured, one person Irshad Ahmed Dar of Hajin succumbed to injuries in the hospital, doctors at the hospital said.Later the residents staged another protest against the killing of Dar and ‘atrocities’ committed by Police and troopers.The situation took and ugly turn when the protesting women complained Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Sheikh Mushtaq about the atrocities committed by policemen and troopers on them.According to eyewitnesses, the women exchanged some hot words with Mushtaq who in turn asked police to open fire at the protestors.One person Shahid Ahmed Pahlu son of Ali Muhammad Pahlu of Saderkote, Bandipora was killed on the spot when policemen shot him in the forehead.The body of Shahid who was studying in B.A. 1st year was lying on the road till last reports.“No one dares to pick the body fearing wrath of the police and troopers,” locals said.A woman Naseema, wife of Muhammad Ashraf of Bun Mohalla who was among eight injured in police firing succumbed. According to reports, two of them who were shot in the abdomen are critical.When contacted, DC Bandipora Sheikh Mushtaq said: “I am busy and unavailable for the comment.”"People here in Hajin are coming out on roads to stage peaceful protest demonstrations but police and troopers are using brute force," said a resident Showkat Ahmed Dar. "Police and troopers forcibly enter into our house and beat the inmates. So we are left with no option other than to come on roads""When police start beating women in the area we announce on loud speakers to come out jointly from home against police," Dar added.After noticing that people were using loudspeakers, policemen and CRPF trooper desecrated Masjids and throw out loudspeakers, locals said."Police and CRPF desecrated Masjid in Sheikh Mohall Hajin and threw out its loudspeakers, matting and the holy Quran on the road," said Abdul Subhan Parray, an elderly person.“When we approach DySP Sumbal who was heading the police and CRPF party, he cursed us and starts beating all of us,” Parray added.
