Troopers threaten us for staging protests: Hajin residents
Mir Tariq Bandipora, June 27: Thousands of people hit streets in north Kashmir’s Bandipore district after Friday prayers to protests against the controversial land transfer of state land to the Amarnath shrine board. Continuing protests for the fifth day the people flooded all streets and raised pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India and anti-government slogans.
The protest march started after Friday prayers, which were led by Peoples League (Rehamani) General Secretary, Rafiq Ahmed Ganie and Ghulam Hasssan Khan.The protestors also raised slogans in favor of Syed Ali Shah Geelani and demanded immediate revocation of controversial land transfer.Addressing the protestors Rafiq Ahmed said, "We will never allow any Indian agency to grab the Kashmiri land."Rafiq said: “It is our right to respond to the Indian conspiracy by which they try to engulf Kashmir. Tagodia and Khajuria can do nothing to the people of Kashmir. Their threats can do nothing but add to the passions of Kashmiri people." Zahoor Ahmed, a protestor said, "We will continue protests against the transfer of our land to the shrine board till the Government revokes the decision. If the government does not revoke its decision, we will revolt.”Another protestor Mushtaq Ahmed said that the people of Bandipore will boycott the coming assembly elections if the government does not revoke the land transfer order."We will give hundreds of sacrifices for our land."The protestors were raising slogans against the ex-governor S K Sinha, Chief Minster Ghulam Nabi Azad and PDP Patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.Meanwhile the people from the adjoining villages of Ajas staged protests, raised anti-India slogans and burnt tyres.The residents of Hajin accused the army of interfering in the land transfer matter and threatening people against staging protests against SASB."Troops of 55 RR threaten us not to stage protests against the shrine board," said a local Showket, adding, "They threaten us of killing if we don’t fallow their diktats.”However thousands of people again came on roads early in the morning in the Hajin market and stage protests against the land transfer.During the protests, hundreds of women were seen distributing cold drinks to the protestors who were raising anti-government slogans
