Present memorandum to Govt, demand probe
Mir Tariq Bandipora, June 17: Alleging irregularities, the residents of several villages in this newly created district have presented a memorandum to authorities, demanding a high-level probe into the working of Municipal committee, Bandipora.People including members of several blocks from ward Number 1, 2,3, ,4,14 and 15 have presented a memorandum to district authorities demanding high level probe in the working of the municipality committee.
In the memorandum sent to the government, a copy of which was released to media, people alleged that municipality is misappropriating the funds that were meant for repairing of roads and construction of walls.The memorandum alleged that grave irregularities were committed while allotting the supply orders to the contractors. It also alleged that the quality of construction work undertaken by the department had gone down during the past few years.It was further alleged that the funds were being used by the municipality officials for their private use. “They are using the funds to construct the walls around the houses of their neighbors and relatives, thereby causing a huge loss of the state exchequer,” the residents alleged. They further alleged that the municipality authorities in alliance with R& B department are going to dig up Sheikh Mohalla link Road (Ward 6) in order to save a newly constructed house of a Municipality official. "This act can create trouble for the residents of the area and should be stopped forthwith”, the residents demanded.Following the complaints, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora seized all the Municipality records in April. “No action has been taken so far against the erring officials,” said the residents.They demanded a high level probe into the irregularities committee by the Bandipora municipality committee.
