Bandipora candidates demand probe into SSRB list

Mir TariqBandipora, June 15: The candidates who have applied for the teacher posts in the north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday demanded probe in the teachers' shortlist published by Services Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB).
Deserving Handicapped candidates falling in the physically Handicapped Category (HC) who have applied for the teachers post (Item No 3) against Advertisement No 01 of 2008 dated April 22, 2008 have demanded an immediate and independent probe in the HC category of teachers’ shortlist which SSRB published a few days back.The handicapped applicants alleged that few candidates having good physical shape have succeeded in obtaining fake Disability Certificates in nexus with the members of the District Medial Board Bandipora and Baramulla."We were perplexed to see the names of few healthy and sturdy candidates in the shortlist of Handicapped Category bearing serial numbers 3, 4, 5, 6,15 18, 27 and 28," alleged Zahoor Ahmed a handicapped candidates. “Everyone knows that the candidates who have produced fake disability certificate are physically fit.”The Handicapped candidates alleged that few candidates who have minor disability have got disability certificates showing 50 to 60 per cent disability.“Few candidates with minor disability in nexus with the Medical Board members have obtained Disability Certificates mentioning 50 to 60 per cent disability. This should be probed," said Mushtaq Ahmed.The Disability Certificate are issued by the District Medical Board which constitutes of an orthopedic, other doctors and the concerned Chief Medical Officer (CMO) as chairman of the board."The fraud is evident from the fact that in last year’s list these candidates did not exist in the HC category because their disability percentage was below 40 per cent by Medical Board, then in Baramulla district. However the recruitment board entertained above 40 per cent of disability as eligible," sources said. All the deserving Handicapped Candidates of the district Bandipora demanded immediate and independent probe in the matter so that they can get justices and the accused punished as per law.They also demanded that a team of doctors be deputed on June 20, 2008 (the date of interview) for on the spot examination and verification of Handicapped candidates to check the disability certificates.
