‘I will restore beauty of Wular’
Mir Tariq Bandipora, June 4: The Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJSP) chief and union steel and fertilizer minister, Ram Vilas Pawan on Wednesday said the he will raise the grave issue with Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh. He also claimed that the party will restore the beauty of the famous Wular lake in Bandipora.
Addressing a public meeting at the sports stadium here, Paswan said that thousands of unemployed youth will get employment in power projects in the area. “Only the youth of Bandipora will be appointed in the Kishan Ganga electric project and Wular Barrage project,” claimed Paswan"Unemployment is the main cause of spread of ‘terrorism’. Our main aim is to provide employment to all the educated youth in Kashmir including Bandipora, which is hub of education," said Paswan, adding "Unemployed youth took to 'terrorism' but the state government give jobs to lakhs of unemployed youth and it helped in eliminating terrorism from the state”.He accused the Jammu and Kashmir government of failing to provide jobs to the educated youth.Taking a dig at government for not taking proper care of Wular Lake, Paswan said, “The state government has failed to maintain the beauty of the Wular Lake in Bandipora. Our party will take up the issue with the union ministry of lakes and water ways. We can initiate water sports in the Wular and this lake can act as the major tourist destination not only in India but in whole Asia”. He claimed that he will maintain the Lake on his own."We will use scientists and environmentalists to develop the wetlands located in Wular and the encroachments on the Wular land will be cleared," he further claimed.Supporting the Sachar Committee report, Paswan said "If the report is showing the backwardness among Muslims, then a backward status should be given to Muslims”.Lashing out at MP’s from Kashmir, Paswan said "MPs representing Kashmir never talk in favor of Kashmiris and Muslims.” Expressing his concern over the plight of family members of disappeared persons, Paswan said that he would ask the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to form a committee to probe the disappearances in Kashmir. “I will also raise the issue of unidentified graves with Prime Minister,” he said, adding, “Thousands of graves in Kashmir are unmarked and this is a grave issue”.
