Authorities seize spurious drugs

MIR TARIQBandipora, April 3Hundreds of spurious bottles of Calcifort were recovered by drug inspection team during a raid on drug and medicine supplying agency, here in this North Kashmir district, Thursday.
The drug controller was receiving regular complaints that a local pharmaceutical company was selling spurious drugs. After these complaints, a drug inspection team led by Drug inspector, Bandipora conducted a raid on the outlet of a local pharmaceutical company here.During the raid, the drug inspection team recovered spurious bottles of Calcifort from the outlet of the medicine company, I P Medical agency.Jana Begum of Kema said that a lady doctor in SDH Bandipora had prescribed her medicine from previous four months. “I was regularly taking the medicines but my health conditions did not improve. I had doubt about the quality of the medicine and my doubts were aggravated today when foul smell came out from the bottle of the medicine, which was totally jammed”, she told Rising Kashmir.She said that she apprised Drug inspector about the same and subsequently the department swung into action and carried out raid on the outlet of the pharmaceutical company.When contacted Assistant Drug Controller Parvaiz Ahmed told Rising Kashmir, "Our drug inspector recovered spurious drug in Bandipora in a local medical agency after receiving complaint from a patient".He added, “The samples of recovered bottles were in jammed condition and were sent to Laboratory for test and legal check. We have informed higher authorities about the recovery and necessary action will be taken against the erring persons
